5 reasons why you should switch to Posterous (from Wordpress etc.)

Summary: You're lazy and you're not planning to make money off your blog: You don't want to spend a lot of time maintaining a simple blog and making it talk with other web services.

5 reasons:

  • Lack of themes: Although it might sound like it's a drawback, I love the fact that it's very simple, clean and optimized for every major browser. There's no need to edit your theme every month to make it work with another browser update.
  • E-mail anything: Now this is a game changer. No single web application (that I tested) has done e-mail parsing this well. Try to post an image to your Wordpress blog with e-mail. It's not simple and fun playing with plugins (see next item).
  • No plugins: Another advantage that sounds like a drawback. No plugins means less time for maintenance (updates and setups), less security holes and a faster blog.
  • Community and exposure: Posterous does help you get some exposure to your posts. It's dead simple for other Posterous members to follow your updates and comment on your entries.
  • Garry and Sachin: Cofounders, Garry and Sachin are more then willing to fix your technical problems. Comments are not displaying well? Tell them, don't spend your night writing CSS hacks for IE.
